Khula Art Centre
The Khula Arts Centre was established in 2007 and is located in the city of UMhlathuze (Richards Bay) in northern KwaZulu-Natal. It is an NPO registered arts institution endorsed and supported by the KZN department of arts and culture. The centre services the creative industry in districts of UThungulu, UMkhanyakude and Zululand and is a development hub for arts, culture and heritage. Its mission is to bridge the gap between developed and undeveloped artists in northern KZN, to create a platform to exhibit their creative talent for the sustainability of their livelihoods, to act as an information/resource centre for all creative industry role-players, to contribute to job creation through the arts, and to contribute to the economic development of the region. Its core staff consists of the Manager, Administrative Secretary and Security – the rest of the staff is outsourced for specific programmes.
